From the committee
A new website, and a mailing list you actually control
How the Union's new contact list works, and what it means for your details.
The Union now has a proper contact list, and a website to go with it. Both were built around one idea: you should be able to see exactly what we hold about you, and change or delete it yourself, without asking anyone’s permission.
How it works
You opt in, and we can prove it. Nobody is added to the list without clicking a link in an email sent to their own address. That means we can say exactly when each person agreed, and to what.
You control your own record. Every email we send contains a link to a page showing precisely what we hold about you. From there you can correct it, download a copy, change what we contact you about, or delete the whole thing permanently. No form, and no waiting for a volunteer to get around to it.
You choose what you hear about. Events, the newsletter and volunteering are three separate boxes. None of them are bundled together.
There is no shared spreadsheet. The committee exports a list only when one is genuinely needed — name badges at a reunion, say — and deletes the file afterwards. There is no permanent copy sitting in anyone’s Drive.
The website has no cookies and no trackers. Not a single third-party script, which is why you have not been asked to accept anything.
If you have not heard from us
The list started from zero, so being a past pupil does not put you on it. If you would like to hear about reunions and everything else the Union runs, you can sign up here — it takes about twenty seconds.
