About
The Past Pupils' Union
There is no membership fee and no application form. If you went to Oatlands, you are a member. The only thing worth doing is making sure we can reach you.
The Past Pupils’ Union exists for two reasons: to keep past pupils of Oatlands College in touch with each other, and to be useful to the school. In practice that means reunions, an archive, a mailing list people control themselves, and whatever else a volunteer committee can usefully do.
What we actually do
We run the annual Past Pupils Reunion — most recently at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan — and help year groups organise their own milestone gatherings on the fives and tens. We help get word out when the College has something to mark, as with the 75th anniversary in October 2026.
We keep a mailing list that past pupils opt into and control themselves, and we are building an archive of photographs, magazines and programmes so that seventy-five years of school life is not left in attics.
Being useful to the school
The Union is not a fundraising machine first and foremost, but it does what it can. That includes a perpetual trophy awarded to a Sixth Year student each year, help with class lists when a year group wants to reunite, and a standing offer to speak to students about work and careers when the school asks.
If you are organising a reunion for your own year, the committee will do the boring parts: finding the class list, booking the school for a tour, and emailing everyone on the list. Most reunions start with one person deciding to bother — tell us if that is you.
The Archive
Photographs from recent reunions are already in the gallery. Almost everything earlier is still missing. Class photographs, team photos, school magazines, programmes, jerseys and roll books are all welcome.
Nothing is kept: we scan it at high resolution and give the originals back. If you have anything at all, please get in touch.
How it is run
Three officers and a small committee, all volunteers, elected at the AGM each year. The current officers were returned at the AGM of 8 September 2026. There are no paid staff and no premises — the Union runs on time and goodwill.
The accounts are presented in full at the AGM. Anyone who wants to see the figures can ask the Treasurer.
Your details
The Union’s contact list is something we can stand over: you opt in by clicking a link in an email sent to your own address, you choose what you hear about, and you can view, correct, download or permanently delete everything we hold about you yourself, from a link in any email we send.
This website sets no cookies and makes no third-party requests of any kind. That is why you have not been asked to accept anything. The privacy notice sets it all out.
A short history
Seventy-five years, briefly
Only what we can stand over. The middle decades are thin on the public record — if you can fill a gap, we want to hear from you.
-
1951
The school is established
The Christian Brothers established Oatlands College in Mount Merrion. The school opened to its first pupils in 1955.
-
1955
The doors open
The first pupils walked through the front door. Generations of Mount Merrion and Stillorgan teenagers followed them.

2026
Past Pupils Reunion at the Talbot
Year groups came back to the school in the afternoon and gathered at the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan for dinner — the pattern the annual reunion now follows.
-
2026
The Union is re-established
At the AGM on 8 September, officers were elected and the Union was put back on a proper footing — a consented mailing list, and a website the committee can actually stand over.

2026
Seventy-five years of Oatlands College
On 2 October the College marked its 75th anniversary on the school grounds, with past pupils, former teachers and Christian Brothers for a buffet lunch.
Something missing or wrong? The original founding year of the Union itself is not known — it was re-established in 2026. Corrections and additions from the archive are genuinely welcome. Get in touch.
